Mapping Your Mission One Blueprint at a Time
GLADSTONE PLACE PUB
THE MISSION
Creating a Recognizable
Mark of Trust

The Gladstone Place logo was designed to capture the spirit of a local pub that values tradition, simplicity, and honesty. Its badge-like shape echoes the rich history of traditional British pub signage — bold emblems meant to be instantly recognizable from the street, even before the days of widespread literacy. This timeless format gives the mark a sense of heritage, while the classic serif typeface reinforces the brand’s down-to-earth personality. At the center is a subtle nod to the restaurant’s namesake — Gladstone, the loyal canine companion of Sherlock Holmes — adding warmth and character without overcomplicating the composition. From the muted color palette to the balanced layout, every element serves the brand’s promise: solid, honest, and simple food, delivered with purpose. This logo isn’t just a modern take on tradition — it’s a clear signal that what’s inside is thoughtfully crafted and rooted in story.
Translating Identity Into Experience
With the brand identity established, the next step was designing collateral that carried the same tone — simple, honest, and grounded. The Gladstone Place menu reflects the same principles as the logo: clean lines, classic typography, and an intuitive layout that says just enough. But it’s more than visual design — it’s physical. Printed on thick, textured cardstock, the menu feels as intentional as it looks. That subtle tactile grain doesn’t just elevate the presentation — it anchors the guest in the space. It’s a quiet handshake that welcomes them into the story. Before the first bite, it already evokes a sense of time and place — comforting, familiar, and just a little timeless. From layout to language to touch, the menu becomes a living extension of the brand’s character.

Storytelling Through Space

Artist's Rendering
At Gladstone Place, the interior isn’t just décor — it’s a direct extension of the brand’s soul. The warm wood tones, exposed brick, and vintage gold frames echo the honesty and heritage at the heart of the Gladstone identity. Every detail reinforces the narrative: this is a pub rooted in tradition but alive with character.
The framed dog portraits nod playfully to the restaurant’s namesake, weaving whimsy into the space without feeling gimmicky. Classic pub textures — tufted leather booths, curved wooden chairs, softly glowing glass pendants — invite guests to slow down, settle in, and enjoy solid, honest & simple food.
This alignment between brand design and physical space ensures that what you see on the menu, in the logo, and throughout the restaurant feels intentional and unmistakably Gladstone. It’s not just branding — it’s atmosphere with purpose.
Your First Course Starts Online
A great pub doesn’t just serve food — it serves a feeling. The Gladstone Place website was designed to do exactly that. From the warm hues of the photography to the rustic tones of the typography and textures, the digital experience mirrors the pub itself: inviting, familiar, and grounded in tradition. With bold calls to action, mobile-friendly design, and seamless reservation and ordering options, the site reflects the same values as the space — approachable, efficient, and crafted with care. For a brand built on simplicity and heart, the website had to speak with both.
